Sinopsis: Tras un inocente juego en la playa junto a sus compañeros de clase al comienzo del verano, la vida de cinco jóvenes hermanas huérfanas de un pequeño pueblo turco cambia radicalmente. Disgustados por la supuesta inmoralidad en el comportamiento de las chicas, su abuela y su tío deciden tomar medidas que garanticen la virginidad y pureza de las cinco hermanas, así como precipitarlas hacia su destino de futuras esposas.

Esta película me ha gustado sobretodo por retratar la realidad en la que viven muchas chicas en países como Turquía, debido a la intransigencia religiosa del país, a través de la hermana más pequeña, llamada Lale, quien no entiende el porqué de todas las restricciones que su abuela y su tío deciden implantar en sus vidas, pero que guiada por su rebeldía se opone a todas estas restricciones. En esta película podemos ver el retrato de la sociedad turca, muy diferente de la occidental, y la opresión que allí sufren las mujeres. 

Sin embargo, pienso que se podría haber profundizado mucho más, y puesto más énfasis en los sentimientos de las hermanas, la sexualidad femenina..., que pasan desapercibidos en la película.

Las actuaciones de las hermanas son destacables, sobre todo la que interpreta a Lale (Gunes Sensoy).

Por todo esto, es una película recomendable, con mucha estética, y una critica social sobre la religión.

Synopsis: Early summer. In a village in northern Turkey, Lale and her four sisters are walking home from school, playing innocently with some boys at the beach. The immorality of their play sets off a scandal that has unexpected consequences. The family home is progressively transformed into a prison; instruction in homemaking replaces school and marriages start being arranged. The five sisters who share a common passion for freedom, find ways of getting around the constraints imposed on them.

I like this film mainly because it shows perfectly the situation in which many girls in countries such as Turkey live in, due to the religious beliefs though the Lale's point of view (the younger sister), who does not understand the restrictios that her grandma and her uncle are introducing in their lives but guided by her defiance, she will oppose to all of them. In this film, we can see a portrait of Turkish society, which is really differen from the Occidental society, and the repression that woman suffer there.

However, I think the film could have gone deeper into the topic, and have placed more emphasis on the sisters' feelings or the femenine sexuality...

The acting of all the actors is remarkable, especially Gunes Sensoy, who plays Lale in the film.

I recommend this film a lot beacuse it is aesthetically a really beautiful film, and it has a really powerful message about religion.
